Eighteen African countries took part in this first edition:
Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia.
